Product categories do more than just make your inventory look neat. They:

  • Enhance Navigation: Customers and staff can quickly find items, improving their experience.
  • Simplify Management: Categorized inventory is easier to track and update.
  • Boost Sales: Grouping similar products can encourage cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

Well-organized categories set the foundation for an efficient and profitable store.

 

Step 1: Adding a Product Category #

 

Here’s how to add a new product category:

  1. Navigate to Product Categories:
    • Go to your dashboard and scroll to the Business Manager section.
    • Select Inventory, then tap the view more icon (three vertical dots).
    • Choose Manage Categories to open the Product Categories screen.
  2. Start Adding a New Category:
    • Tap the plus icon (+) in the top-right corner to open the Add Product Category screen.
    • Enter a descriptive name for your category, such as “Electronics” or “Seasonal Products.”
    • Optionally, add a short description for better clarity.
  3. Save Your Category:
    • Tap Save Product Category.
    • Your new category will appear in the list, ready to assign to products.

 

Step 2: Editing a Product Category #

 

Need to update a category? Follow these steps:

  1. Access Manage Categories:
    • Go to Inventory and open Manage Categories using the view more icon.
  2. Select the Category:
    • Locate the category you want to edit. Tap the view more icon next to it and select Edit Category.
  3. Make Changes:
    • Update the category name or description as needed.
  4. Save Updates:
    • Tap Save Product Category. Your changes will be applied instantly.

 

Step 3: Disabling a Product Category #

 

If you no longer need a category, you can disable it:

  1. Access the Manage Categories Section:
    • Go to Inventory and select Manage Categories.
  2. Select the Category to Disable:
    • Search for the category or locate it in the list. Tap the view more icon and choose Disable Category.
  3. Confirm Disable Action:
    • A confirmation popup will appear. Enter a reason for disabling, then tap Yes, Disable.
  4. Update Affected Products:
    • Reassign products linked to the disabled category to active categories to maintain inventory consistency.

Note: Disabling a category will permanently remove it. Ensure that all associated products are updated before confirming.
